While the in-game camera stops short of showing her genitalia, I suspect that anyone who rips her character model will find it there. She's also one of the characters the developers decided to almost completely expose with full nudity. Let's instead assume she's about Sean's age. I'd invite you to imagine the same scenario playing out but with a 16-year old Max in place of Sean and an adult Warren or Nathan in place of Cassidy.īut again, we don't know how old Cassidy really is. Not only does she not stop him, she actively encourages him, and tries to (or, depending your playthrough, actually does) fuck him!Ĭan a 16 year old underdeveloped kid who is homeless, broke, and running in fear for his life consent to much of anything, let alone sex? This small detail seems to have been glossed over so far, maybe partly due to the gender of the characters. She's more mature than Sean, and should know better than to let him get involved with drugs, alcohol, and sex - all of which are extremely dangerous for someone in his position. While Cassidy has a sob story of her own, she's still largely choosing to be where she is. He didn't choose the life he is living in the story, at least in the sense that he felt no other choice. He's about the worst-case scenario as far as vulnerable youth go - no money, no family, no one to turn to, and under constant threat of arrest. Given this with Sean's situation, she should not be messing around with him in any way.
Let's assume that she is a few years older than Sean, perhaps 18-21. We don't know how old she is, and due to Dontnod's story, any age proves to be terrible for different reasons.
With this out of the way, what the hell is the deal with Sean and Cassidy? The Sean and Finn pairing is also inappropriate, but Cassidy is by far the most problematic. Sean is extremely vulnerable: young, homeless, poor, scared, alone.Men can be victims of sexual abuse and women can be perpetrators.
The context in which this plays out during the episode is deeply unsettling, and it's surprising that Square Enix even published the game if they knew this was coming.Īs much as criticism of LiS2 has been popular for the past year, this sort of criticism tends to attract mass downvotes - so let's establish some ground rules. Dontnod's decision to suddenly include nudity and sexuality more than halfway into LiS 2 was certainly shocking, as much as it was disturbing (or worse).
